The night’s biggest news was the defeat of Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) by St. Louis County district attorney Wesley Bell in the Democratic Party’s primary for Missouri’s First Congressional District. Bell won with 51.6 percent of the vote to Bush’s 45.6 percent.
Bush is a Black Lives Matter activist and former nurse who was first elected to Congress in 2020, after winning an upset primary victory that year over 10-term Rep. Lacy Clay (D-Mo.).
