Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) announced during a Jan. 14 press conference that he would bring another stopgap funding bill to the floor this week.
Mr. Schumer did not announce the details of the bill, but previous reporting has suggested that the bill will extend the deadlines for a government shutdown to March 1 and March 8.
The deal was reportedly negotiated between House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), Mr. Schumer, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).
The bill would avert a partial government shutdown currently set to begin on Jan. 19, and a later shutdown on Feb. 2, due to the “laddered” nature of the previous stopgap funding bill….
